The Crisis of the children

by

Tony DeLaRocha

In a time riddled with many societal problems like so called dead beat dad, children growing up in a one parent home and therefore vulnerable to a host of temptations toward violence and drugs, let us examine possible reasons for this phenomenon in society. We live in a time of gender confusion; the feminist movement demanded equal rights for women in the workforce and therefore effectively doubled the workforce in less than one generation. Now we live in a time in which women who would have liked the choice of staying home with their children to raise them properly no longer have that option. There are differences between men and women, but that does not make one sex superior to the other. The pressures of being totally dependent on your husband no doubt force Feminism to manifest itself, but society must acknowledge the destructive effect it is having on society. Men and women are different. Female humans, like any other animal, has the instinct to nest, create a hovel, or home, if you will, and men, for all their bravado need women. Behind every good man is a good woman, it is said, but are there any left? Granted, men throughout history have oppressed their mates, but perhaps there was a design to this apparent injusticeTHEY COULD NOT LEAVE. They had to stay in the marriage for life. Women have attained their freedom and independence from the tyranny of men, but are they truly happier now than a generation or two anymore? They complain that they have to work AND manage a household, or many of them cannot find a partner anymore since men have discovered that the marriage contract is not good business. Womens newfound freedom has made a divorce too easy of an option, and wrecked the emotions and finances of this generation and their children. Perhaps men and women should examine why the traditional roles they have lived by for thousands of years and search for the merits in them that existed. Laws should be exacted that would make divorce more difficult, especially when a child is involved. The custody laws affecting me should be reformed as well as the child support laws that often make men resentful about supporting their own offspring. Society needs to enact these changesFOR THE CHILDREN.
